The Precious Blood of Jesus
As we offer this concluding article on the Blood of Jesus, our desire, in presenting this series, has been to help each reader understand the depth of God’s love in giving us so precious a gift. Yet, it is more. The precious blood of Jesus is the heart of our faith and the source or our love.

Through the preaching of the cross of Christ, we find there is no remission of sin except by the blood of Jesus. Thus, there is no salvation except by the blood.

The redemptive power of the blood offers us the freedom to walk in this life unafraid and as free men with a free choice- being able to move in the spirit of truth and power. Through its atoning work, God has cleansed us and made a substitute for our sin so that we would not have to pay the penalty for our failure. We can come into God’s presence of by an act of His power. The blood has the power to cleanse us, washing us white as snow. It cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Consequently, we stand clean before our Father God, not by our works, or our wisdom, but simply by the blood of Jesus.

The blood has preserving powers that even the angel of death respected and passed it by. Death respects the blood of Jesus. Jesus’ blood is more precious than any other blood. This blood is so precious because it pleads for righteousness, for mercy, for judgement and it prevails against death. God give His ear and listens to the blood as He acts and prepares a blessing.

The blood of Jesus has the power to take the hardest heart and melt it. Jesus takes the stiffened heart of stone and turns it into a heart of flesh. It is the power of the blood that satisfies and pacifies God, and brings us His peace. As the children of God, the precious blood satisfies our desires, and calms our anxieties. The blood of Jesus is continuously confirmed throughout God’s Word as an everlasting promise. The blood of Jesus sanctifies us and separates us as vessels for His use. It cleanses us and makes us able to receive the Word of God into hearts. It is the blood that has the power to give entrance to God, consecrating a way for us to go before His throne, not with fear but rather with boldness.

The Blood Invigorates
John 6:51 I am the living bread, which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

John 6:53 Verily verily, I say unto you, except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you.

Nutrition is an important part of our life, as it is true, we are what we eat. To be strong and healthy it is wise to eat those foods that produce a strong, healthy, body and mind. We also know that if we were to eat fatty junk foods on a consistent basis it would produce weak sickly bodies, and feeble minds.

John 6:54-56 Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

When we come to God, the blood of Jesus Christ invigorates us with life. It establishes, strengthens, and energizes us with the only power God provided to generate a robust life. In our flesh it is common knowledge that we need to eat sensibly and get a good nights sleep so we will not faint. To empower us so whenever we have to face a trial, we have the stamina to see it through to the end. How can we complain of being tired all the time if we are not taking time to chose healthy foods, or disciplining ourselves to get in bed at a sensible hour for our bodies and minds to rest?

It is time we become enlightened. We must think it through before we start to build the building— count the cost less we begin and cannot finish. What kind of emotional, physical, and spiritual house are we building? One that will weather the trials in triumph, or is the house being built on sand where we’ll faint and sink in the middle of the storm? We can not be successful without the procurement of God’s sustenance.

Jesus says eat this bread, drink this drink, it is food indeed. Be absolutely assured that His flesh and blood came from God for us. Take, eat and drink, receive every nutritional requirement we need for the day. They have every added supplement needed to sustain us through even the most grievous day.

The blood invigorates, so if we are tired, turn to the cross and sup from the throne of God. It invigorates, and excites the heart, giving us purpose and reason. It establishes what and who we are, and it takes away guilt, doubt, failure, and all the things that cause us to grow weary and fail.

God has equipped us with what we need to live by and to work with. We are a people who realize we need something more added to us than what we are in ourselves. For there is not one of us in our own power, that can heal someone. We haven’t our own power to recreate so that one may become born again. For this reason God tells us to partake of Him, receiving that which we do not have.

We can find strength not in what we are but in what God supplies us with. God designed us to have what is necessary. He has called us to do the work of the Kingdom, and would never give us a job to do if He did not equip us with the tools needed to complete it.

If we do not eat and drink of the blood, we will be unable to endure on our journey. We will not be able to deliver the word God called us to convey. If we have not partaken of His blood we cannot give the blood, because it is not ours, it is His. It is not our flesh but His. It is not our church but His. We are the body of Christ; we cannot build the church on what we are or what we do. We must go to Jesus recognizing that it is His body, and partake in it.

The church is not a club or a social group. It is Christ’s body. It is what we do not have that we partake in. Each person in the body of Christ is needed. We must look to the blood, understand our covenant, and know what flows through us and is confirmed in us. When we partake of another part of the body of Christ, the blood has to flow one to another, invigorating, and bringing life. The blood comes from Jesus Christ; it comes from above and is not of this natural world. It is a gift from God and we must continually partake of it. This precious flow invigorates the body causing us to understand.

What would happen if our heart stopped pumping? What would happen if the blood of Jesus were not sent to every member of the church? What would happen to the body? A lost connection to the heart of God could be disastrous, especially when we understand we are that connection. The body dies because it lost the love- the connection to the heart of God through the blood. Therefore, instead of the blood exchange, other things become the measure of that body, such as money or power. Indeed, we will die without partaking in what Jesus says is our food, (John 6:53). The blood flows to the body; it works so simply. Remember, it is not our body but His. We need to have the blood flow to the body in order for it to be alive and healthy. We are a part of that flow. What part of the body doesn’t exchange blood with another part of the body? If your arm was cut off, and you did not get it tended to, immediately that dislocated part would start to die.

We are instructed (Galatians 6:1)that those who are spiritual (or connected to God’s life)are to reconnect the dislocated part of the body, understanding the covenant that is in the blood. It is the blood that invigorates and brings life back to the dead member. If we are unable to do that by the blood of Jesus, we have no reason to do it at all.

When the body has been cut or damaged in any way, for whatever reason, we are to ask Jesus for healing, and let His blood flow. Allow the power that is in the blood to rejuvenate us back to life.

The Blood Overcomes
The Blood of Jesus has the power to overcome anything that tries to rob us of our covenant, which is established by the word of God, enduring forever.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

They believed so completely in the power of the blood that they did not love their own lives, even when faced with death. They knew the power that invigorates, cleanses, and heals, the power of the blood that flows from the throne of God, and the covenant that was confirmed in their heart. That kind of motivation can only come from God. The blood establishes our walk in the testimony or covenant of God. We stand and conquer because of the blood of Jesus.

The blood breaks even the devil’s staggering power. We need to realize, the blood is the most powerful weapon God has given us in this world. The blood kicks every demon out of the doors of our churches, setting hearts free, and bringing everyone into the presence of God. The power of the blood causes sin to die in His presence. When our hearts are touched by the life in the blood, the old passes away and we become new creatures in Jesus Christ. This life is the power of God’s life.

There is no power in or of ourselves that can change anything. Instead of criticizing others for their faults, we give the blood; it is that powerful weapon of God that cleanses. The power of God causes change to those who will submit to Him. One can know this power which is God, and have the abundance of life that He gives.

We can take the blood of Jesus where there is death, having the confidence it will establish life. Hell is dried up and the heavens are opened to us, for we can enter by the blood of Jesus. It is a weapon that has power to overcome death, sickness, and poverty. The blood overcomes sin, fear, doubts, and addictions of all kinds. The precious blood of Jesus is the only thing that God has given us that can take away our shame.

Let us take the most powerful weapon and apply it to our hearts. Let the blood and life of God confirm in us that we are invigorated with His life, and all sorrow and mourning will flee away. What place does sorrow, mourning, and fear have in us when we have life? What place does death have when we believe in the life that is in us? What power can anything have over us when we’re empowered by Jesus’ invaluable blood? What trouble or disaster could we go through that the blood is not greater than? The blood of Jesus is sufficient and we are overcomers by it.

Only by the blood can we stand before God. This beloved stream is the only victory we can find in this earth. It is the only place to put our faith because it flows from the heart of God, bringing life to His body. Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much more, as ye see the day approaching.

If you have never asked Jesus into your heart, this is the time to believe. This is your moment to turn to God and pray this prayer:

Jesus I want you to come into my heart. I want your blood to flow to me cleansing me of my sins. Take away my fear, doubt, and guilt. I want to be able to come before you and know that I am saved, not by my power but by your power. Jesus be Lord of my life. Thank you Jesus for coming into my heart and making me a new creature with a living spirit.

Jesus is the answer, He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. Let the blood of Jesus flow bringing you abundance of life. Let Him be Lord of your life today.

A four tape series on the Blood of Jesus is available on cassette for $26.00 and additional copies of the book "The Precious Blood of Jesus" are also available for $3.50 each.

Victory Gift of God Street Church
Pastor Ed Kannapel

After two years in Vietnam, I was sent back to the states and put in a mental hospital. 3 months later, they kicked me out of the service. I had a severe case of the Vietnam syndrome.
I spent the next 17 years as a skid row bum. Staying at rescue missions, eating out of garbage cans, drunk, sleeping on the streets, riding freight trains, and in & out of jail. I was even deported from Canada. Please remember that Jonah learned more in the fish than some learn in the Seminary...and so did I.
On February 2, 1986, I asked Jesus Christ into my life. Jesus found me! It was Ground Hog Day...I don’t know if the groundhog saw his shadow...but I saw the light!
The next day, God had me out telling people what Jesus Christ has done in my life. I did not even know one Bible verse. All I knew was what Jesus did for me. I was a 100% alcoholic. I would get the DT’s if I did not get a drink. God delivered me for I was no longer drinking and I did not have the DT’s. I asked the Lord if I should go to A.A. God said NO! I asked him why not? Jesus said, really softly in my mind, "When I healed the blind man, he did not go to a meeting every Tuesday night so he would not go blind again." Jesus then said, "I healed you. You’re fine now." Praise God! that was right!
The Lord showed me Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard a voice of the lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."
As I was praying, I said, here I am, Lord, send me. The Lord said go...go into the streets and prisons and preach the good news of Jesus Christ...I will be with you in everything you do.
So I packed my old van with a 5-gallon pot of soup, and went to the streets and alleys of Chicago. I was feeding the homeless and street people and praying for each one and telling them about Christ. Every time I got a few bucks, I went out there preaching.
That was 12 years ago. Now we give out tracks and bibles as well. I never lost the love I have for the skid row bum. I know first hand that God really does love them, and wants to save them. That is why he sent me.
As far as preaching to the prisoner, I have been preaching in Cook County Jail for 8 years. In 1990, I started volunteering to write Inmates for "Prison Fellowship". I am not writing about 200 inmates, give or take a few.
The Lord said in Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Working in the streets is what God called me to do...are you doing what God called you to do?

Seventh Grade
by Jason Lhotak

In seventh grade, life was good.
I was a good Christian, I did as I should.
I had no troubles, I had no worries,
When I went through Jesus, I was never in a hurry.
I had innocence, I had not a fear.
Eight grade came, a completely different year.
I thought I’d experiment, and have a little fun.
Too much of this "fun" and I was on the run.
What had become of my new life?
So scary I always carried my knife.
Ninth grade came, rebellion was my game.
Thought I couldn’t change, thought I’d stay the same.
I wanted things back the way they used to be.
I wanted to feel like I was in seventh grade.
I was depressed thinking, "Look at this life I’ve made."
Tenth grade came I knew I needed a change.
I decided to go to this place
This place with Amazing Grace.
I went to this place with an open mind.
I went to Jesus and watched my bad life be left behind.
Now I feel innocent I have not a fear.
Life is good, I’m doing what I should
I have no troubles, I have no worries
I feel like I’m back in the seventh grade
